This is my first attempt at blogging. I mean, I read about people blogging, I think I have even read a blog or two while searching a topic, probably about goats, honey bees, or making soap and lotion, since those topics are my obsession at this moment in time. So bear with me, hopefully we both will survive.
I guess the first thing to blog about is the creatures I have placed in my photo section.
Our extended family consist of Maggie, Cupcake, Jack, Suzie, Zeke, and Daisy. I will include KIKI in the mix (she, I think) who isn't pictured but ever present in our life.
Maggie came to live with me in 1999. She lived with a family in Metairie. Maggie didn't get along with the family dog or most of the two legged family members for that matter. We found our way to each other and since 1999 we have shared our lives. She got me though some really touch times, I can not imagine my life without her. She is my Moon Glow.
Then there is Cupcake. He lived the first year of his life as a girl, hence his name. The people that found him told my sister he was a she. My sister found him on a cold December night in Bay St Louis, MS. He was about half dead, crusted over eyes, bloated stomach, and practically lifeless. I gave him a bath, and a warm place to sleep. He was maybe 4 weeks old, I remember he fit in the cup of my hand. We nursed him back to health and now he my big fat black cat. He like Maggie has been my rock though tough times. My life is better for him sharing this life with me.
Jack - Jumping Jack Flash as he is formally known. I call him Jack or when I am totally aggrevated with him by his Native American name; He Who Looks for Trouble. He is the problem child my parents always warned me about. My sister dropped Jack off right before Hurricane Katrina while she moved from FL to TX, for two weeks. This has been the LONGEST two weeks of my life. He is truly a blessing even though he is always getting into trouble or waking me at 2 in the morning.
Suzie - This angel came "home" early 2006. She stumbled upon us one day and decided we were her family. This little creature of 20 pounds has the heart and soul that knows no bounds. When I see her after a long day, I understand the proverbial phrase, "MY cup runneth over". She came to us when my mother was very sick with cancer, that is why I truly believe that she is an angel.
Zeke - Another angel. He is my lesson. This creature is the most gracious and grateful creature I have ever know in my life. Chills run up my spine still when I think of his life before he found us in 2007. But never in my life did I imagine sharing my life with a rescue pit bull. He taught me that I don't get to chose who I rescue, I am only a vessel on this plane.
Then there is Daisy - I found her in a crate at Walmart one Saturday in Feb of 2008. She had been brought to Walmart by a rescue group for one last attempt at adoption. She spoke to me, licked my hand and I know I was hers. She and Zeke are such soul mates. She fit right in to our family, and as our vet says she is such a happy puppy. She is always happy and bouncy, and joy and a blessing for sure.
Then there is Kiki. She has lived with us for about a year now. She moved in, under the house, right before Zeke moved in. She isn't wild but she prefers living outdoors.
Blessed are those that have chose to share this life with us
